Hi all. I'm in the market for a sporty sedan and I've spent a lot of time researching various models. I decided to abandon a number of candidate models from Honda/Acura due to their long track record of bad transmissions (Honda has finally abandoned their auto transmission design in favour of CVT with the 2013 Accord, after 15 years of problems starting with 1998 Accord). My question: does the Gen 1 TSX (04 to 08) share the same transmission as the Accord (either AT or MT)? It appears not, but despite considerable searching I have not been able to confirm precisely what the differences are between the TSX and Accord in terms of powertrain, or more generally. Having read so many horror stories of Accord/TL/Odyssey transmission failures, I'm determined not to be another victim! Any information and relevant links explaining this would be much appreciated. If the TSX does not have a "glass tranny" then I just might have found the perfect candidate! Thanks, NDRead more...
Badge engineering is the bane of the pistonhead’s existence. Or is it? Actually, bad badge engineering is the pistonhead’s pariah. Most adventures in grille-swapping produce soulless cash grabs like the Mercury Monterey and Chrysler Aspen. But some automakers “leverage synergies” in such a way as to respect- dare I say advance- the identities of the brands involved, and produce a genuine bargain. Case in point: the Acura TSX.Read more...
This just started yesterday. First symptom: Put car in drive and it appeared to pop in out out of 1st real quick as I pulled away. I thought it was because I pulled away rather quickly. Second Symptom: I can make this happen! Only when slowing down going to make a rolling right turn and after the turn getting back on the gas. The engine revs and then goes into gear. No clunk though. If I come to a complete stop at a stoplight no issues accelerating off. Car has been owned by me for 8,000 miles and it currently has 83,000 on the odometer. I have no idea if anything transmission was has been done to the car. Thoughts? Regards, JamieRead more...

anyone hear anything about problems w/ the transmissions on the tsx's? i was at the enterprise near the dealer waiting for a car (brought it in for the trunk recall and a rattling noise in the sunroof) and ended up talking to a guy that also had a tsx. either his transmission or his clutch just went on him. can't get into gear. he said the clutch was feeling soft and he had an appointment for next week to bring it in but it just went today. he also mentioned the last time he was at the dealer there were 2 people in there for the transmissions on their tl's. the one person was on his 3rd. now i'm concerned... i never heard about honda/acuras having troubles w/ the transmissions but looking on this forum i'm seeing quite a bit. anyone have any more info specific to the tsx?Read more...

I first drove the Acura TSX Sport Wagon five years ago. "But wait," I hear you cry through a series of tubes, "this is a new car!" Well, dear readers, five years ago I was living in London and the 6th generation Honda Accord Tourer had just debuted. That's right, Acura is rebadging a European Honda model and selling it to us silly Americans as a luxury car. Good thing most car buyers here like nothing better than having the wool pulled over their eyes.Read more...
quicker pace when the road begins to meander, and adequately absorbs surface irregularities and external roars when cruising. We like the six-speed manual's precise shifting action and the five-speed automatic's exceptionally aggressive Sport mode. The Kryptonite in the garage is an efficiency-enhancing electromechanical power steering (EPS) system that ranges from a shortcoming to a deal-breaker, depending on which KBB editor you ask. Most vehicles require subtle steering input when traveling straight down the highway; the 2009 Acura TSX requires constant, unnatural-feeling correction. We're hoping the system will be improved over the life of the TSX, because we really like the rest of the package.Read more...
Jaws with an overbite. But does the two-box wagon design change that? We're thinking yes, but only for the better. The wagon's well-tapered profile gives the TSX a visual boost, while chrome roof rails, attractive 17-inch wheels and body-color moldings give this middle-management hauler a touch of class. Still, the TSX is a bit of a tweener when it comes to luxury cred. The wagon starts at over $30k and it wears an Acura badge, yet it comes up a bit short in the swaddled and pampered department. Why? The interior. Sure, our tester came equipped with all the leather and tech gizmos expected in this echelon of the market, but the problem lies with materials that aren't quite up to snuff. The center arm rest isRead more...
The engine in your 2008 Acura TSX should be running when you perform a transmission fluid level check, otherwise it will be inaccurate. The video above shows where the transmission fluid dipstick is located in your TSX and how to check the transmission fluid level. If the transmission fluid level in your TSX is low, you need to add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. When adding transmission fluid to your TSX, be sure to add it slowly as it will fill up quickly and is difficult to remove excess fluid if you overfill. If you are having problems with the transmission in your TSX, such as clunky shifting or hesitation, check the fluid level first - it is amazing how many drivers pay thousands of dollars for transmission work when a half quart of transmission fluid would have fixed the problem.Read more...

JULY 2015 -- American Honda Motor Co. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Acura MDX and MDX AWD vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to December 16, 2014. The affected vehicles have air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolts that may not have received the proper anti-corrosion coating. If a bolt was not coated, it may corrode and break as a result. If the bolt breaks, the compressor clutch plate may separate from the vehicle, possibly becoming a road hazard. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolt and install a new clutch plate if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 31, 2015. Honda's number for this recall is JQ7. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to more...
If your TSX OEM low beam headlight have problems, like light failed, dipped beam, not working, flickering or have any other issues, you only need to change or replacement related original xenon parts like: ballast, gas discharge bulb, igniter or wire harness, cable to repair your HID light is ok, no need to cost a lot of money to buy a whole brand new headlight assembly like the car dealer suggest. Normally speaking, when your headlight have problem, check out the fuse first, if it’s ok, then replace the factory fit xenon control unit box ballast is ok, because from our many years experience, when the headlight not work, 90% of the problem is on the ballast.Read more...
Thanks dreamer. Yes i had the car up on jack stands and i basically tried to pull and shove on each suspension parts by hand, everything was very rigid. I used a breaker bar to try to move the sway bar links, and it did but there were no noises. The transmission mounts seem to be fine to me, no rips or anything. I don't think its the exhaust since i took the same breaker and bar and hit/shook everything and couldn't reproduce any sounds similar to what i hear when going over bumps.Read more...
I have had my 07 6spd tsx for almost 2 years. Got it with 58k and now has 86k. I encountered the vibration problem almost over night. I never had any issues with my car at all. Then i started getting a extremely violent vibration under acceleration. It was exactly how others describe. Was the worst at around 60-65mph but i had it at almost all mph over 40. Mine was also quite random. Some days would be terrible! Others would be tolerable. But this problem plagued me for about a month until i started doing research. I only did my passenger side and it INSTANTLY fixed my issue! Its amazing how this problem could cause such a vibration. Even after looking at the old CV joint i didn t notice any kind of terrible wear problems either. Which kind of scared me while i was doing the cv joint change over. But it fixed it and i couldn t be happier!Read more...
The best part is, the TSX wagon deserves it. For $31,820, you get a good-looking hauler that offers a spacious, modern interior and a strong, efficient powertrain. The TSX sedan s 2.3-liter, 201-hp four is the only engine choice. It comes bolted to a five-speed automatic and cranks out a respectable 22/30 mpg city/highway. As with the TSX four-door, the back seat is comfortable for full-size adults and the chassis is a nimble, corner-dancing companion on winding roads. You tend to forget that the TSX s ample rump is there, so willingly does the car bound and leap over twisty pavement.Read more...

Ok, so my girlfriend has an 04 Acura TSX and she just got it from a used car dealership about a month or two ago. Well the passenger headlight comes on sometimes and then if we turn on the highbeams and turn it off the passenger side low beam doesn't come back on without flicking it on and off a few times. And when you turn on the headlights on and off, you can hear a weird buzzing sound inside the car. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it? We don't want to ride with one headlight and catch a ticket. Thanks for the help in advance.Read more...
Computer problem 2009 Acura TSX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 11000 miles Hello, I was hoping you would be able to help answer my question. I just bought my TSX a month ago and have nad nothing but problems. I went to start the car in the afternoon and it was turning over but wouldn't actually start. I tried about ten times and it wouldn't start at all. I then turned the key into the on position, but didn't full start the car, I kept it like that for about 5 minutes and then I tried again. It then worked. I took the car to the Acura dealership and they told me that it was due to me moving the car from behind my roommates car to a different spot in the driveway that morning. They also said it must have flooded, which I know now is untrue because it's a fuel injected engine. I had to take the car in again today because I started it two days ago, put the car in reverse pressed the gas and the steering felt very funny. I looked at my dashboard and the Check Engine Oil, Check Charge System, and Power Steering lights came on. I left the car running and looked at he manual and it said to turn the car off, which I did. I checked the oil and everything was fine. I then tried starting the car again and everything was ok. I brought it into the Acura Dealership again and they claim that there are no computer codes that occured so there's so problem. I asked if it's possible to have a computer issue and not have a code and they said no. Is this true? Please Help. I'm VERY frustrated having bought an Acura thinking it would be reliableRead more...
I have a 2006 Acura tsx and I am having electrical problems. While driving their seems to be a surge that interrupts the radio and the display panel goes off for a second or two. The auto shop I took it to said the computer is not registering any codes and they think it is electrical. They are not sure! Any ideas?Read more...

When it came to comfort and amenities, the Acura TSX Tech V6 was a top contender. The sedan's infotainment system has great steering wheel controls, we found phone setup to be simple, and the navigation system was relatively easy to use. Being one of the smaller cars in our test — with one of the bigger engines (3.5L V6) — the TSX underperformed in Car and Driver acceleration testing, posting times slower than some turbocharged 4-cylinder models. In our road testing though, the nimble and sporty handling were appreciated. As for roominess and comfort of the interior, the smaller aggressive exterior styling lead to some visibility issues, but the seats are well designed and seem to comfortably hug the driver.Read more...
When the first-generation Acura TSX (2004-2008) reached the end of its production run, we were apprehensive. Would the makeover follow the all-too-familiar malaise afflicting so many new cars—more mass, more money, less edge, less fun? The original TSX offered only one engine—a naturally aspirated, 2.4-liter four generating just 200 horsepower. We loved it. Tidy in size, agile, loaded with standard features, and thrifty at the pump, that TSX would be a decidedly tough act to follow. Though no one here was smitten with the bright new overbite on the heavily chromed front fascia, we decided to give the second-gen TSX a 40,000-mile acid test to find out.Read more...
Here's the deal: A good friend of mine has a 2004 Acura TSX. The steering has a problem. When driving on roads that are fairly rutted, the front tires want to track pretty badly into the ruts. Coming to a stop, the steering wheel will pull badly one direction or the other, depending on the rut. I drove the car today, and I took it to a cul-de-sac, and drove it in circles several times, both directions. I noticed at full lock (wheel all the way one direction or the other), the steering wheel would "pulse" concurrent with wheel speed. I don't really know how to describe it, but the steering wheel would literally pulse back and forth, as if a tire was worn badly. I inspected the tires; they look fine. The car recently had an alignment. I inspected the CV joints as best I could through the wheel wells, and they don't appear to be leaking anything. So, here's my thoughts: 1) Bad front wheel bearing(s) 2) Bad CV joint somewhere 3) Bad tire(s) in the front 4) Alignment guy really missed the mark on the caster I think I rule out3, since, visually, the tires look fine. I know that doesn't rule it out though. The cul-de-sac I was doing circles in was on a hill. At the "bottom" of the circle, the "pulsing" in the steering wheel was most pronounced, as if the outer wheel was receiving the most force on it. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I'm leaning toward a CV joint at this point, but front wheel drive cars certainly aren't my forte. GregRead more...
Honda is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Acura TSX vehicles originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In states that use corrosive materials for deicing, driver's footwear may bring in materials that saturate the vehicle's carpeting, which is in contact with the vehicle's engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU). As a result, the ECU case may experience rust or corrosion. This damage may potentially cause the engine to stall.Read more...

I have a 2004 Acura TSX and about 3 months ago, I had to replace the battery. No big deal, but after that, when I would have the car in park and the radio on, all electrical would cut off for a split second. Then two days ago, it happened again, except this time, the engine cut off too. The check engine light came on for a day but then went off. It's the second time the check engine/malfunction light has come on in the past few weeks. Just under 60K miles and other than that, needs rotors. Are you still having this issue? I have a 2014 Honda Pilot and I am experiencing similar issues. Ny newest issue is when I call somebody from my phone, the call will at times not play through the car speakers. Also, when the call does go through the car s speakers, it will begin to sound like the person on the other line is a robot and the call will disconnect from the car s bluetooth. The connection will eventually re-connect but this issue is becoming more and more common. Another issue I am having is when I am streaming music via bluetooth from Soundcloud, the audio will begin to skip and become choppy. I am not sure if this may be related to the fact that my phone is also connected to my Moto 360 as well. Thoughts?Read more...
Description of Problem Last week the blower for the A/C and heater stopped working on my 2003 Acura TL Type-S. The problem is clearly the blower not turning on.Read more...
Feel free to ignore. My 2007 Acura Tl was my pride and joy...It is my 3 Acura and I should be loving the car but am not. It has developed a slow electrical leak and it is getting very annoying for what should be a care free driving car. First of all I need a reliable car because I work out of town and no coworkers live near by. The first 2 Acuras were a dream of reliability but just got old and needed replacing. About a year ago my car would not start, the battery had discharged overnight. So.... We replaced the battery Checked the alternator Checked the HFD module (Bluetooth) Checked the remote starter Checked truck or glove compartment lights in case they were being left on. For the last 4 months I have been driving without the6 fuse which run my door locks, garage door opener, trunk. I need to open garage manually, open car with key and trunk from inside.
